Charles Michel Duke was born in London in 1980. He read Archaeology at the University of London (UCL) and graduated in 2003. While always writing it was after university that he decided to also direct and produce his own films. In the short time that Charles has actively pursued filming, he has covered many genres such as comedy, drama, action and documentary, taking as an inspiration the urban landscape of London. By using the city as his backdrop, Charles has managed to weave together stories and situations that come from a multitude of angles as diverse as the city he shoots in.
In 2006 his short The Fight was broadcast on the Emmy Award winning Canadian broadcaster Bite TV and on the British channel Propeller TV. In 2006 he also completed his first feature "An East End Tale", made on a budget of under US$10,000 and with a total of only fifteen people. During 2007, Charles has released two shorts. His first, "Caution Wet Paint" was screened at the inaugural Canary Wharf Film Festival and the Deptford Film Festival while Two Glasses has also had its premiere at the Deptford Film Festival. They have both since been screened at the London Film Makers' Convention and the Wood Green International Film Festival.

Charles regularly writes columns on film making for East End Life and OhmyNews International. Charles also has a weekly film slot on NuSound Radio, Sundays at 5pm (GMT) entitled 'Movies and Music'. During this slot, Charles also hosts the only 'Open Mike' session available to new musicians on the FM dial entitled NuSound Talent.
